The latest medical study, published online in PLOS One, suggests that printing rolls of paper and touching cash register receipt paper may increase the body's risk of absorbing the dangerous substance bisphenol A.

According to Taiwan's Central News Agency, A medical report published in plos One by a research team led by Taylor, an associate professor of biological sciences at the University of Missouri, found that restaurant cash register receipts are often made of heat-sensitive paper, which makes it easy to contaminate food with bisphenol A.

Taylor pointed out that because the thermosensitive paper BPA is an endocrine disruptor, the human body faces considerable health risks.

In experiments, researchers found that BPA in heat-sensitive paper can be quickly absorbed into the bloodstream, leading to an increase in diabetes and obesity.

The study also found that the use of general skin care products increased the rate at which BPA was absorbed into the skin.

Bisphenol A is commonly found in everyday products, and up to 90 percent of Americans have urine tests for the substance, Taylor said.

Bpa has been replaced by "bisphenol S," but Taylor points out that BPA mimics human hormones, is also potentially dangerous, and lasts longer in the environment, so any receipt on heat-sensitive paper should be kept to A limit.
